Food is more than sustenance—it’s a bubbly bop through boba bliss, or even a saucy escapade in a Nashville hot chicken saloon.
This summer, Subtropic partnered with Snap Inc., Uber, and Mother to deliver an interactive spin on Postmates’ “This is Your Brain on Food” campaign exclusively to Snapchatters. Featuring five unique palettes, the experience serves a visual feast inspired by culinary icons—built almost entirely in Snap’s Lens Studio. From a zesty ginger shot palate cleanser, to eye-watering tacos al pastor, there’s a bite for everyone!
Crafting ingenuity demands the precision of a masterful chef. After sampling a smorgasbord of AR innovation, we got down to business. Leveraging a combination of 3D face projection and custom segmentation, Snapchatters’ faces are seamlessly mapped onto a faux 3D head, enabling an immersive head-split effect to make way for the beautifully crafted dishes, animations, and backgrounds to shine through.
